I’m pleased to announce we have a new Chef! Nick Wahle will be joining our Village Wines/Piccolo family on July 5. He is a native of Cincinnati and most recently has worked at 20 Brix for 3 years. He was also a part of Honey (Northside) for 3 years. Nick is very excited about the opportunity to take over as Head Chef – so stay tuned for new menu items and new food and wine pairings! Watch for local, fresh ingredients in Nick’s highly creative, simple cuisine.
The Crew Club continues to be one of Village Wines best-kept secrets! Help us spread the word – and encourage your friends to join the “Club”! We’re trying to expand your palates by choosing wines that you probably wouldn’t pick. Since the beginning of the club, we have had reorders of almost all of the wines we’ve chosen. Join the club – and see what you’ve been missing! We include tasting sheets, menus and a short informational sheet about the winery or region.
We now have wine in cans! That’s right! I know what you’re thinking – “I don’t know how I feel about drinking wine from a can!” We weren’t sure either! From the Oregon winery – Underwood – we have Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Rose. They are equivalent to a 375 ml bottle and $6.99 each. Perfect for picnics (at HWB Center!), the swimming pool – or just to have around – we were all surprised at how great they taste. Come by and check them out.
If you missed last Friday night’s tasting with Dennis O’Brien and the Ocone wines (a small winery from Campania) – we have a few left. The grapes are Greco, Falanghina, Aglianico and Piedirosso. They were all delicious – and moderately priced. They ALL over delivered for the price!
